We all know what happens from there…

These beautiful and smart puppies grew extremely fast until they were 6 months old and very big. With no experience handling this type of dog, the mother and sons did not understand the need to train and give these smart boys something meaningful to do. Now she had not one but two very large and very unruly puppies. The puppies were moved to a fenced area in the backyard but as most GSD’s who are bored do…they learned to create their own excitement. One learned to climb and jump out of the 5 ft enclosure and the other followed by digging out. Not knowing what to do, the mother put them on cables to keep them in.

Now, understanding the mistakes that she made in an emotionally driven decision to bring home these Christmas Eve puppies, their owner is willing to surrender them to rescue so that they can have a second chance for the life that they deserve.

Can ANYONE help these boys?

The owner is willing to surrender them to get them into loving, inside homes.
DUE TO THEIR SIZE AND LACK OF TRAINING, A GSD RESCUE OR EXPERIENCED HOME IS NEEDED.

Conditions for them are very poor. Both are outside with minimal shelter attached to cables with choker chains in the mud. Very sweet boys looking for lots of affection. They kept “hugging” onto me so it was hard to get any good close ups. I would suspect that Shadow would get along with another dog as a playmate. He was in the same fenced pen (although cabled separately) as another dog and shared the same food dish. The other male, Bear, has a more dominate personality toward dogs but is VERY people friendly. They are both untrained and do jump on people but very responsive to attention. Bear is a fence jumper and Shadow is a digger.

I was not able to test them with another dog. My initial impression is Bear would need to go to an only dog or submissive female home. Shadow would probably get along with another dog in the family with training. I believe they could both be wonderful companions with proper exercise, patience, and training. Please email for more details.

White Shepherd foster, Zeke, is ready for adoption. He is really coming along well with his house manners now. He has settled down so much from the wild boy that came in. He knows sit, down, belly (for rubs), wait and gentle (for taking treats). He is very ball driven and loves to play ball (especially those squeaky ones) for hours each day.

He is a big boy at almost 90 lbs. and does get really excited sometimes when seeking affection so he would be best in a home without small children. He may accidentally knock them over.

Zeke has some skin issues and allergies so he will require a little extra work but will be worth it as he is such a big, sweet, goofy boy. Lots of fun and always happy.

Zeke is available for adoption through Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue http://www.echodogs.org
For information about adopting Zeke, please see http://www.echodogs.org/adoption.htm

Molly is in urgent need of rescue or adoption.

MOLLY’S STORY…She was walked to our county animal shelter by a young boy who while crying begged us to take her and keep her safe because his step father was going to shoot her for breaking her chain. She was only 10 months old when her young owner dumped her there trying to save her life. Please help us honor his wishes by helping us find a loving home for her. Please email rescueowenky (at) yahoo (dot) com if you can help Molly.

Molly’s sweet disposition soon won over all the shelter volunteers. Even so, no one came to rescue her or adopt her. A volunteer decided to foster Molly to teach her to live in a house so that she would be easier to find a family to adopt her. She made huge progress while in their loving care. That all came to a halt one day when the foster family found out there was a breed ban in their city that automatically classified sweet Molly as a vicious dog. The family was forced to bring Molly back to the shelter and could no longer foster her.

Molly has had nothing but sorrow in her short 16 months of life. The only thing she has wanted is someone to love her as much as she loves them. Now, after three months in a loving home, living the good life as an indoor pet with her foster family, she is sitting in a dark, concrete cell AGAIN. She is now scared and shaking and alone AGAIN. She is wondering what she did wrong to be sent back AGAIN. Please help us get Molly out of the shelter forever.

Molly needs…and deserves…a loving, indoor home to call her own.

Please pass Molly’s story on and help us find a home for Molly.

Molly is available for adoption through the Owen County Friends of Animals to an approved, indoor home. Molly is being held in the Owen County Animal Shelter, Owenton, KY. Please contact us if you can help Molly.

Thanks for passing her story on…
